This is the very first building block to creating your Anime, which essentially guides the direction and feel of it. It is particularly important to note that Anime is considered in art, and just like any art, there exists several styles to any one item. The key is to learn the basics from which you can eventually take off.
To create a character of your own, the 2 key elements are your character's head and body. Under these come a few finer things but we shall look at how to quickly piece these together to form a basic principle you can always follow.
The robust and fantastical design of characters is what forms the pedestal to their behaviour on screen. In as much as anime attempts to emulate real life, the distinction and individualism remains key.
Though the more artistic forms of Anime (usually set out as posters and not animation) do tend to elaborate detail, Anime is actually rather simplistic. This simplicity however is also usually the cause of the defeat of growing artists in the tendancy of over-detailing
Anime uses this well to deliver the ambience which relates accordingly to the general style and feel of the shows dictated by the story and genre. Depending on the purpose of the anime, the coloring can be greatly shaded and detailed, as is usually the case with still images, or generalized for the sake of animation ease.
Animation schemes are rather standard, following the normal life principles (unless the show is of some form of fantasy) with the main difference being the budget when it comes to produced shows. The studios with the higher budget tend to identify themselves through smooth and intense animations usually seen in action-themed shows. That is made significant for the fact that each frame must be individually drawn and sequenced to bring about the illusion of animation.
