Drawing Tutorials
Head
When drawing any character in any position, it is quite common amongst most artists to begin with the head. For those starting the trade, the head happens to be the most fun as a character is ultimatetly defines by their face.
The following is a very good and clear tutorial set for the process of drawing character's face for both genders from www.deviantart.com.
Body
When it comes to the body, one will find that the forms are more true to real-life although simplified. It is hence a postive for one to have an understanding of the basic human body form and simply pick up on the tips to making their characters look good.
A simple stick structure is always the best place to start to
line out the body's proportions and limb positions. Cirlces
are usd to indicate joints with ovals for the feet and hands.
Using the guidelines drawn in the previous sketch, now one can
begin to flesh out the characters outline. Edges are rounded or
indented at the appropriate joints with the lines allowed to
cross over each other to allow one to envision the 3D model of the
character.
Finally, the intial sketch lines are rubbed out along with the overlapping
areas that should not be visible from the shown angle. From here, one has their
basic body structure with an animated feel to it, from which point the character
can be cleaned out.
